since changing my pc to a flat screen - Trigger the cat has nowhere to sleep .....................until that is , he disovered the wall mounted tv..............................

more work

have been working - honest! In my up and coming exhibition - I have decided that I need some smaller , more accesible pieces to sell - so have been working on assemblage.

My own hanging figures take ages to construct and work out , so have been playing around with monatge as a way of producing thought through, but quicker art .

I love altering things that appear to have finished life - so heres the pictures of my recently produced art .

Sweet almond - here - is a deconstructed doll and an old spice tin.......................... she really fitted so well into this project , so I let her!
Fallen angel - is a sculpted head and hands with the general bits of life that hang around!

the one at the top of this is called 'energy and inspiration' small figures clockwatching - love it!

Its more affordable than my usual figures - and also provide an interesting sideline for me to the more intense sculpturingand textile figures.

spring?

lots of talk at the moment about spring! well this is what it looks like here in Sweden in Spring!!! Not a lot of flowers as you can see............but at least I can now see the grass - or at least a bit of it !

I went up to our local garden tip this morning so heres the picture of that - complete with my car in the distance.

Then we have some trees that I thought were good composition .............. and looked lovely in the snow.....

then the path to our compost bin ! and ta da!!!! the path around our house - and yes!!!! eureka !!!! that is green grass .......well at least frozen green grass!






oh where oh where are the crocuses, snowdrops and daffodils???

self portrait

have recently been watching 'star portraits ' on BBC prime and love the programme that shows artists working in all different mediums and styles - last night it showed one artist doing a self portrait.

so thought I would have a go myself!

Now as no-one has seen me in the flesh - you dont know if its good or bad! well let me assure you it is a good likeness :0)

not really - but it was fun!

have been working on some new stuff today - altered dolls and montages!

one constructed of pc parts entitled ..........all the new technology

and the other is a montage of life .............
neither are finished yet! too much chatting !

bad sketch day

in this great book - Danny Gregory 'Creative License' he writes to the effect that everyone has bad sketch days ......and I certainly do!

heres the proof!

He has some wonderful ideas in his book about kickstarting creativity .............one is 'dont beat yourself up' about bad sketches ! Turn the page and try something else

manic cat

I have manic cat called Trigger - he is an attention seeker - typical man! If I am working , on the pc or with my art stuff he demands attention! Got a lovely picture of him today - he had just woken up and he yawned.......

he looks vicious but he isnt !...........currently he is sitting on my new shiny scanner that now has pawprints and white fur all over it! he loves the printer paper when it disappears into the machine.............

In the midddle of the night he jumps up on to the back of a chair to 'ring' the windchimes - that is his signal for me to wake up and feed him!

He is a monster ..............but perfectly sweet :0)

Decided to quick sketch all the chairs in the house ...........heres two of them - I couldnt get them all finished but the experience was useful!

back again!

first time I have blogged for a while! Wont go into the 'oh so boring' details of why not ................but will say - this is a small step back to normality!

Today, I am changing computers - from the old steam driven one in the picture to my new shiny balck model in the other picture!

Now, I could get lost in cyberspace during the transfer ...............so please bear with me !!! I am hoping it will all go smoothly and I lose nothing - but in reality I am expecting to lose absolutely everything!!!

Also today, I have promised myself to do some art - a drawing , a sketch , anything ............ just anything - it is on my list of ' must do's today!

So, people! providing I am back on line later ...............and the transfer went ok ..................and I have finished playing with my new toy ..............I will post in my art bit later!

triangles in the snow

I cycled to work today about 6 miles - pretty heavy going but I enjoy spending the time looking ! cant cycle too fast on roads like this huh?

I noticed how many triangles there are in nature - uprooted trees form triangles - branches that have fallen form triangles - the trees in the forest are trinagular shaped ............they were everywhere! I enjoy cycling - it gives me time .........................

edm challenge - dog

now this sounds easy when you have a dog - it should be - easy! but when you have a fox terrier called Charlie it is definitely not easy!!

He moves around all the time - especially if he thinks you are looking at him! So after many aborted attempts ..........and panicking because time was getting on with this challenge , I have at last completed a page of quick sketches .

very icy

we are having very cold weather at the mo ...........and lovely hoar frosts - I think they have inspired my latest figures .......................hanging ice fairies - just the heads done at the moment so must order some wire to form the bodies!

lots more work to be done with clothes, bodies etc ................but I am quite pleased so far!

I have to deliver samples of my work next week so must get these finished and in some sort of hanging state ................... I quite like the finished head with just wire body and limbs ..............definitely odd !
